Why Fajardo

Puerto Rico's Best Fishing Port

Fajardo sits on Puerto Rico's easternmost tip, which means two very different fisheries are within easy reach. Inside the protected Cordillera Keys, calm shallow waters hold snapper, grouper, barracuda and tarpon — perfect for a relaxed half-day with the family. Just a short run offshore, the seafloor drops off into deep blue water where mahi-mahi, yellowfin tuna, wahoo and marlin chase bait along the current lines.

Because the run to the fishing grounds is short, you spend more of your charter actually fishing — not just traveling. That makes Fajardo one of the most efficient fishing ports in the Caribbean, whether you want a quick inshore trip or a full day offshore chasing big game.

Every charter is private and comes with a USCG-licensed captain who knows these waters, plus all rods, reels, tackle and bait. Your fishing license is covered — just show up and fish.

About This Private Charter

Fajardo is one of Puerto Rico's top fishing destinations. Its location on the easternmost tip of the island gives you fast access to both protected inshore waters and deep offshore drop-offs where pelagic fish like mahi-mahi, tuna and wahoo are found.

A half-day inshore trip stays inside the protected Cordillera Keys — calmer, shorter and great for families and beginners, targeting snapper, grouper, barracuda and tarpon. A full-day offshore trip heads past the continental shelf drop-off for big-game pelagics — mahi-mahi, yellowfin tuna, wahoo and marlin.

Every charter is 100% private with a USCG-licensed captain, all rods, reels, tackle and bait included. Your fishing license is covered — just show up and fish.

Where You'll Go

Inshore trips fish the protected waters around the Cordillera Keys — a chain of small islands and reefs just off Fajardo. These calm waters hold snapper, grouper, barracuda, tarpon and king mackerel. The short run means more time fishing and less time traveling.

Offshore trips head out past the continental shelf drop-off, where the seafloor drops from a few hundred feet to thousands. This is where pelagic fish — mahi-mahi (dorado), yellowfin tuna, wahoo and billfish — hunt along current lines and temperature breaks.

Your captain uses local knowledge and real-time conditions to find the best fishing grounds each day. The run to the inshore grounds is 15–20 minutes; the run to offshore waters is 45–60 minutes.

No. Your fishing license is covered on every charter. Your captain holds the necessary licensing, so you don't need to arrange anything yourself.
What fish can we catch off Fajardo?
Inshore trips produce snapper, grouper, barracuda and tarpon. Offshore trips target mahi-mahi, yellowfin tuna, wahoo and marlin (catch and release).
Can beginners join a fishing charter?
Absolutely. Our captain handles the boat and technical work, and will coach beginners through baiting, casting and landing fish. The inshore half-day is a perfect first trip.
